The syndicated series first aired over the Mutual Network on December 13, 1947 and it ran for a total of 52 episodes.

The show starred Alan Ladd as Dan Holiday a former newspaper reporter and a would be novelist. In order to get ideas for stories, Holiday ran a classified ad in the newspaper, "Adventure wanted, will go anywhere, do anything...., write Box 13, Star-Times." Each episode chronicled Holiday's exploits as he answered letters sent to him from people seeking help.

The cast also included Sylvia Picker as Suzy, Holiday's admiring and very naïve secretary. Edmond MacDonald played Lt. King with Betty Lou Gerson, Frank Lovejoy, and Lurene Tuttle making frequent appearances on the show.
